Dear Parents,
Welcome all to the new academic year and this exciting time for all PYP8 students. We would like to use our first blog entry to discuss ROUTINES.
Please find each of our parent presentations from last week linked below. Please refer to these over the coming weeks and get in contact with your child`s teacher if you have any questions. Some important trips to remember are Peraltas in September and a Life Skills trip probably in May, both of which will be sleeping away from home.
PYP8 Sigma - Mr. Hurst
Routines
May we suggest an excellent first week activity that you can do with your child and so help them transition into their busy school routine.
- Sit with them and go through their diaries regards specialist lessons that require kit brought into school and their homework timetable. Use this to help them make a nightly schedule based on when they arrive home.
- We have included a google document that you can make a copy of and use to create your own family`s personalised schedule. Home to school schedule
- Remember to sign their diaries everyday so as to inform the teacher that you have read it. Thanks!
New Unit - As individuals we play a role in society
We Tune-in to our first unit this week, considering what are roles, responsibilities and actions within society. This unit is an excellent way of assisting our PYP8 students to take on more roles/responsibilities and so become more independent learners....
Thanks for your attendance last week and we look forward to seeing you soon when the Exhibition meeting is announced. Please feel free to contact your teacher if there are any questions or concerns in these early days and we too will contact you if we need to see you in person.
Things to return ASAP...
- Copies of IDs for any non family members or school parents who will be picking up your child as well as filling out the permanent authorisations near the front of the diaries.
- Yellow ID cards with photo attached.
- BYOD (bring your own device letters with both sides/pieces signed)
- Special message sheet from you to your child
- `Getting to know your child` form
- Medical form (if you were given one)
- Musical Instrument form (new parents only)
