Instructions -

From the groups created in our lessons this week, take on the role of being part of a small group with a shared passion to create a display for the board outside.  Use the success criteria shared in class and plan your group work to guide each of you at home.  

Be responsible and spend 40 minutes (or more if you can) to create your best work, ready for Monday, when it will be added to the display board.  Use G.C. gmail to keep in contact with group members outside of school.  These skills are the beginning of your preparation for Exhibition so use this time thoughtfully.

News Week of 29th August

PYP 8 News

Week of 29th August 2016

Dear Parents, We have now just finished our 3rd full week in class and as the Olympics has finished we find ourselves getting into the swing of routines and hard work.  Please see below our work and reminders for the following week.

Our work in Class… Last week PYP 8 have been working hard looking at factors, multiples and moving forward in their fluency of their Times Tables.  In Language, we continue to build on the work in recounts, building up our ideas of content.  The Unit of inquiry is now fully moving and we continue to find out about individuals in society, their roles, responsibilities and actions.  We move forward to here to start to sort out this information to understand how we, ourselves, play a role in society.  We ended the week in Exhibition by looking at images to start to build our passion journals and find things that we have connections with in the world around us.

Here are a selection of photos that best sum up our busy week.

Things to remember this week…. This week is our goal setting meeting on Friday with you and your children.  All children must attend with parent/s wearing school uniform.  We will have 20 minutes to talk about goals for the coming months at the time you have booked.  Please be punctual and arrive before the meeting starts as we will need to finish at the allotted time  so as all meetings can run to schedule.  If there is need for further discussion, we can make a further meeting at a later date.  Thanks for your understanding here. Peralta paymens have now finished in school and if you haven’t paid then please do so ASAP directly with Peraltas.  Please, if you are unsure regards this then talk to Mr. Caselli, Mrs. Schachter, Mrs. Giannetto or your class teacher.  We hope that every child will be attending. Information went out regards the annual Mexican Exchange Trip where both the visit to Mexico and hosting children from Mexico will take place this Term.  Please attend the meeting at Pinheiros on Monday 5th September, at 8:15am if your child is interested in going or your family is open to hosting a Mexican child when they visit. Children involved in primary play - meeting for parents at Europa Campus on Wednesday 31st August at 8:15am

News Week of 22nd August

PYP 8 News

Week of 22nd August 2016

Dear Parents, Welcome to our new blog page for this week.  We have had our 2nd full week of study and are starting to get to know each other and begin our routines for the year.  Children should continue to be ready on the appropriate days with finished homework, P.E. kit/instruments in school and following the school’s uniform rules.

Our work in Class… Last week we started to Find Out more about the roles and responsibilities we play in society and the children had an opportunity to put this into action with the Bake Sale where they needed to make and bring in a product for this sale.  As well in class the children organised their roles and the actual Friday Bake Sale itself.  Here are a selection of photos of them in ACTION!!!

Adults and children were both impressed with both the quality of products and the way the children were able to work independently showing many skills, attitudes and attributes to pull off a very successful first Bake Sale of 2016-2017.

Things to remember this week…. Peraltas Payments are due either on 24th or 25th August.  You can do this payment after school directly to Peraltas staff or you can send in the relevant payment/form and we will hand them in on your behalf.  Please only send payments on these two days.   Coffee Morning on Thursday at Pinheiros for Parents - 8.15am

Instructions - Directions: Interview a family member or another adult you know about an important event where they felt they had to be very responsible. As you listen to the story take notes on the graphic organizer below. Begin your interview with…

“Tell me about an event in your life where you needed to be responsible.”

Ask follow-up questions to get any missing information.

Instructions - To look at events happening in the news that interest you.  Use the websites shared on G.C. or find your own by using the keyword search idea in the same resource.  

1. Take notes on the video/audio/printed news event using the recount plan as a guide but use the method best for you to record the information such as reduced notes, mindmap or
2. These notes must also be ready to show your teacher so either do on computer or take a photo and save in your folder.
3. Use these notes to create an introduction, the main recount and a conclusion based on your own ideas about the event.
4. Use these notes to guide your presentation and create a visual slide show (save it in your G.C. folder).
5. Practise and focus on time management so as it lasts one minute.
6. Make a keyword card to help you in your presentation.
